Personalised hand-made pottery

Named Mugs offer a complete range of individual hand-made personalised pottery, based on a traditional design. If these were food, they would be organic and free-range. Available to order are mugs, plates, bowls, egg cups and dog bowls, all made exclusively for Named Mugs in four colours: light blue, pink, dark green and our signature colour, cobalt blue

Method

Every item is individually hand-made to order on a potter's wheel. The clay is thrown on the wheel, shaped and left to dry. Next the "slip" (a thin, coloured liquid clay) is applied and your lettering engraved back to the original clay. Then the piece has its first "biscuit firing", which takes a whole day to heat and another day to cool down again. The final stage is to apply the glaze and re-fire the item.

As you can imagine from this, each piece develops its own character which is the charm of our range - they are not identical factory produced items. Each one will have small variations in size, shape and colour. This is also why we allow 6 weeks for delivery.
